EXECUTIVE POSITION DETAILS

The proposed compensation structure comprises a competitive executive base salary, performance-based annual incentives and long-term executive participation, subject to final approval and negotiation.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is an enterprise-wide technology leadership position, extending beyond conventional engineering management.

The CTO will be responsible for shaping the organisation's long-term technological direction, overseeing its advanced engineering and innovation portfolio, and translating complex aerospace capabilities into sustainable commercial and strategic advantages.

Working directly with the CEO and Board, the successful executive will influence corporate technology investments, research priorities, strategic partnerships and the development of future aerospace capabilities.

PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Enterprise Technology Strategy

  • Establish the organisation's long-term technology vision and enterprise engineering strategy.
  • Advise the CEO and Board on emerging technologies, investment priorities and competitive positioning.
  • Direct technology development priorities across aerospace, autonomy and intelligent mission systems.
  • Establish enterprise technology governance and innovation frameworks.

2. Spacecraft Autonomy & Intelligent Mission Technologies

  • Direct strategic development of autonomous spacecraft capabilities.
  • Oversee autonomous guidance, navigation and control technologies.
  • Advance intelligent spacecraft operations, onboard decision-making and mission resilience.
  • Guide the integration of AI and advanced computational technologies into aerospace platforms.

3. Advanced Space Systems & Mission Architecture

  • Provide executive oversight of spacecraft systems architecture and mission engineering.
  • Guide complex mission design, modelling, simulation and systems integration.
  • Advance digital engineering and model-based systems engineering capabilities.
  • Establish technical standards for mission assurance, reliability and operational performance.

4. Research, Development & Innovation

  • Lead strategic research and development initiatives.
  • Identify emerging technologies with significant commercial and strategic potential.
  • Establish partnerships with universities, aerospace research institutions and technology organisations.
  • Guide technology maturation from research concepts through validation and deployment.

5. Enterprise Engineering & Technical Governance

  • Provide executive oversight across multidisciplinary engineering functions.
  • Establish engineering excellence standards and technical governance.
  • Guide senior technical leaders and engineering organisations.
  • Oversee engineering performance, systems integration and technical risk management.

6. Technology Commercialisation & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify opportunities to commercialise advanced aerospace technologies.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with aerospace manufacturers, commercial space organisations and research institutions.
  • Evaluate technology licensing, joint development and strategic investment opportunities.
  • Align technology innovation with commercial growth and long-term business objectives.

7. Executive & Board-Level Leadership

  • Participate in corporate strategic planning and executive decision-making.
  • Represent the organisation in high-level technology partnerships and industry engagements.
  • Develop the organisation's senior technical leadership capabilities.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

The successful executive will be expected to operate as the organisation's principal technology authority, combining scientific and engineering depth with strategic commercial judgement.

The position requires someone capable of directing complex technical portfolios, influencing enterprise decisions, establishing strategic partnerships and guiding multidisciplinary engineering leadership teams.

The expectation is not simply to oversee engineering delivery, but to shape what the organisation develops, where it invests, how it innovates and how its technology capabilities translate into long-term competitive advantage.

LOCATION & WORKING ARRANGEMENT

The appointment is structured as a fully remote executive operating model, allowing the CTO to provide strategic leadership across geographically distributed teams and international partnerships.

Executive meetings, technology reviews and strategic planning sessions would primarily be conducted virtually, with periodic international travel for board engagements, strategic partnerships and critical programme reviews.

Any international employment arrangement and access to export-controlled or classified programmes would remain subject to applicable regulatory, residency and security requirements.

  • Annual performance incentive: $200,000–$250,000.
  • Long-term executive incentives: $100,000–$250,000+.

The final package would depend on the approved employment structure, performance objectives, equity arrangements and negotiations.

EXECUTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The position is intended for an established technology executive with:

  • An advanced academic background in aerospace engineering, astronautics, systems engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in advanced aerospace and spacecraft systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in spacecraft autonomy, GNC and mission architecture.
  • Experience with complex engineering programmes and multidisciplinary technical organisations.
  • Strong strategic leadership, technology advisory and executive decision-making capabilities.
  • The ability to connect advanced engineering innovation with enterprise strategy and commercial outcomes.

FIRST-YEAR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

The CTO's initial priorities would include establishing the enterprise technology roadmap, reviewing the existing technology portfolio, identifying strategic opportunities in autonomous aerospace systems, strengthening research and development capabilities, developing high-value partnerships and presenting a long-term technology investment strategy to the Board.
