Full job description

Director, Corporate Advisory
Company: Snowden Optiro, a Datamine business
Location: Australia, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Employment: Full-time, permanent
Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required

Position overview

Snowden Optiro is seeking a commercially minded mining professional to lead the growth and delivery of its corporate advisory services in Australia and globally.

The business provides independent advisory services to the mining and investment sectors. The director will help strengthen its Australian corporate advisory capability, develop client relationships, lead the local team and oversee high-quality advisory assignments.

The position may be based anywhere in Australia, preferably in a location that supports regular engagement with clients and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Australian corporate advisory growth strategy in alignment with the company's global advisory strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with mining companies, investors, financiers, advisers and other industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities, including cross-selling the company's services.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, scopes of work and commercial submissions.
  • Manage advisory assignments from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to the required professional standard.
  • Provide senior-level input into due diligence, independent technical reviews, corporate transactions, project assessments, strategic studies and related advisory assignments.
  • Manage contracts, commercial risks, project quality, peer review and client delivery.
  • Oversee workload allocation and resource planning for the Australian corporate advisory team.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop team members and associates.
  • Promote collaboration, thought leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Work with other Datamine teams to identify mutually beneficial commercial opportunities.
  • Provide leadership on safety, professional conduct and compliance with company policies.

Required experience and qualifications

The employer specifies more than 20 years of mining-industry experience, preferably with substantial exposure to corporate advisory, technical due diligence, project evaluation or related consulting.

Applicants should have experience across multiple commodities and mining jurisdictions, including both project development and operating environments. They should also demonstrate client-assignment leadership, proposal preparation, commercial and contractual management, business development and the ability to manage and develop technical professionals.

Excellent knowledge of international mineral reporting codes, including JORC, CIM, SAMREC and S-K 1300, is required. A bachelor's degree and authorisation to work in Australia are also specified.

Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, project financing, investment decisions, corporate transactions and independent technical or due diligence reports is highly regarded. The ability to qualify as a Competent or Qualified Person for one or more commodities and additional language skills are also desirable.

However, the published requirements include more than 20 years of mining-industry experience and specialist knowledge of mineral reporting codes. These are important selection criteria that would need to be verified against your background before determining whether the role is realistic.

Compensation and application

Snowden Optiro advertises a competitive salary commensurate with experience and capability, performance-based incentives and flexible working arrangements.
The employer instructs applicants to submit a CV and tailored cover letter
